Tour of Transit Mix / St. Mary’s Church Construction Site

On September 12, 2007 some of the ASCE student’s toured a local construction site with a representative from Transit Mix Corporation (Shawn Campbell).  Transit Mix is a local company specializing in concrete delivery and construction.  The construction site was the site of St. Mary’s Church Expansion in Flint, Texas.  The expansion will be a steel framed building with light-weight concrete floor slabs.  We were able to see much of the framing scheme, the lateral load bracing scheme, and other structural details.  We were also able to see light-weight concrete being placed and worked into proper finish.
