UT Tyler Concrete Canoe Team Earns Best Spirit Award in National Competition
The University of Texas at Tyler American Society of Civil Engineering Student Chapter won the “Spirit of the Competition Award” during this year’s ASCE National Concrete Canoe competition, Dr. James Nelson, College of Engineering and Computer Science dean, announced.
The award recognizes the group’s “good spirit, camaraderie and instances of aiding other competitors,” according to Dr. Ronald Welch, UT Tyler Department of Civil Engineering chair. Participants build canoes with concrete and are judged in four categories: technical design report, oral design presentation, canoe final product and racing. (more)
UT Tyler Civil Engineering Students to Compete in National Concrete Canoe Competition
Nineteen students in The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Civil Engineering will compete in the 2009 American Society of Civil Engineering National Concrete Canoe Competition in June by winning first place overall in the Texas-Mexico Concrete Canoe Competition held at Padre Island, Dr. James Nelson, College of Engineering and Computer Science dean, announced.
