Community Helper Week at Gust Winston Cain Elementary School in Whitehouse Texas

“The Civil/Structural Engineer as a Community Helper”

Audience – First Grade

In September of 2007, Dr. McGinnis visited Gus Winston Cain Elementary School in Whitehouse Texas as part of their “Community Helper” week.  He was excited to show the 1st graders some of the Civil Engineer’s wonderful ‘toys’, including K’nex bridges, rubber shapes simulating structural steel beams and columns, and a distance measuring wheel.  The kids (and Dr. McGinnis) had a ball, and hopefully they were inspired to work hard on their math and science skills, because hey, this is fun stuff!
